Time Tripping

So recently, very recently in fact, I've discovered The Flaming Lips.

Now, this isn't to say that I had never heard of them, I just never appreciated them until now.

For those of you who like me knew nothing of The Flaming Lips until now, allow me to give you the cliff notes:

The Flaming Lips are a band out of Oklahoma City and they formed in the early 1980's. The band was considered to be indie until Warner Brothers picked them up in 1993 and we were graced with the hit She Don't Use Jelly. (...)

As a rule, I don't care for pseudo-psychedelic bands. In fact, I think unless you're doing it right, you shouldn't be time traveling at all.*cough*caribou*cough* But for some reason, The Flaming Lips just have it down. An acoustic sound with radical lyrics makes me feel cooler by just listening.

Q Magazine recently dubbed The Flaming Lips as one of the 50 Bands You Must See Before You Die. Some people say it's because the mixture of LSD and their music will melt your eyeballs. I say it's because of Wayne Coyne's giant bubble.

In combination with their freaky lyrics and acoustic/spacey sound, The Flaming Lips are without a doubt a band you should all get into - NO EXCEPTIONS.

I was originally going to share with you their song Are You a Hypnotist, but the video is very choppy and fast, and is really hard to watch without drugs, so instead, I'll be melting your faces off with probably the only Flaming Lips song you're familiar with, Do You Realize.
