With a cherry on top...

A Russian woman, known only as Natalia K. is in hospital after having her hymen restored for the 6th time.
Russian news reports that after her husband expressed frustration over the fact that she had lost her virginity to another man before their wedding, Natalia K. decided that as a gift to her husband for their first anniversary, she would undergo a hymenoplasty operation to restore her 'virginity'. Apparently her husband was so pleased with the results, Natalia decided to undergo the procedure again later that year... consequently, she repeated the procedure 4 more times thereafter despite warning from her doctors.

Well, due to a "lowered immune system", Natalia's body was unable to fight off minor infection due to the operation and has landed herself in the ICU.

Being that this story is being reported by several different sources, it's unclear who's idea this really was. Personally, I'd like to blame the husband for the ass-hat move, but at the same time one has to wonder how far a wife's devotion to pleasing her man will really go.

I don't know about you, Ladies... but as for myself, I would not be quick to relive my deforestation. Certainly no one alive could get me to pay MONEY to have to endure discomfort, pain, bleeding, etc. all so my husband could get his rocks off.

Not only that, there's nothing organic about this procedure. In nature, you get your cherry popped once, and only once. To be fair, I think it's romantic not the end of the world that she did this for her husband. 6 times!? Talk about masochistic..

Still better than losing your virginity 6 times.

Like you, I'm not really sure whose to "blame" here, if there is even room to blame someone.

As cliched as this is, I blame society for continuously reinforcing the romanticism of virginity; something that is clearly reinforced by dudes.

I don't know a chick who would say "Yeah, let's relive that moment again and again".

Okay, right off the bat - Approx. 17% of Canada's population is children/youth under the age of 15. A survey conducted in 2003 by the Canadian Teachers’ Federation says watching TV is a daily pastime for 75 percent of Canadian children, both boys and girls from Grade 3 to Grade 10.( ... ) Thus, the average child in Canada spends on average 42 hours a week in front of the television or computer.( ... ) That is a huge demographic. A huge demographic of children being subjected to not only the tripe that's on the tube, but gallons and gallons of information that's being processed through their developing brains on a daily basis.
